CORRIE NIELSEN CAPTIVATES IN TRIBUTE TO FELLINI 01/03/2025

When a fashion spread needs to evoke a distinctly surrealist world, Corrie Nielsen naturally bubbles to the top of any magazine editor's shortlist of designers. And it's this dreamlike, mesmeric power that makes Nielsen's work perfectly suited to the latest issue of Doesn't Exist magazine's homage to Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini. 

For the unfamiliar, Doesn't Exist brings together fashion, cinema, and art to explore filmography through editorials, articles, and interviews. The current issue of the avant garde publication reimagines Fellini's work with the help of talent from England, the United States, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and Brazil. Nielsen worked as a special contributor, lending garments, expertise, and also appeared as a model to help recreate Fellini's fantastical world. 

"Working with Corrie brought a distinct elegance; a kind of cinematic grandeur, that instantly elevated the story," said Alex Babboni, Editor-in-Chief. "Her pieces aren’t costumes in the conventional sense, but the way they move, the sculptural silhouettes, the tension between fabric and texture; it all speaks to something theatrical, almost mythic. There’s a strong echo of Fellini in them, especially ‘Satyricon’ or ‘La Nave Va’, and even moments from ‘Juliet of the Spirits’ as reimagined through a contemporary editorial lens."

Working under the creative leadership of Babboni, together with photographers, stylists, hairdressers, and makeup artists, Nielsen helped the team evoke Fellini's world by bringing her own well-honed talent for realizing darkly romantic and surrealist visions. 

"Corrie’s work sits effortlessly between fashion and film; which is exactly the space Doesn’t Exist inhabits," continued Baboni. "She didn’t just contribute looks; she styled, she stepped in front of the lens, she became part of the conversation. Her presence turned the collaboration into something deeply personal; a fluid exchange between disciplines that’s at the core of what we do."
